How to Take Action

The number one thing you can do for your community is to stay involved and take action when the window of opportunity opens!  That time is now…

We encourage you to utilize this site and follow our efforts, community meetings, and opportunities to get directly involved in the public hearing process.  This is your opportunity to join the collective efforts in voicing concerns and raise technical questions with town staff as they consider all aspects of the applicant’s proposal.  Our goal is to foster community discussion by arming you with these details, resources and dates to take action before the window closes.  Community input is critical at this stage of the process, as it provides town council and staff members additional insights to consider beyond the sole perspective of the applicant (and their consultants.)  We are asking more than just the bare minimum from the developer to ensure our community roads, crosswalks , and American Tobacco Trail remain safe and beautiful for generations to come.

1. Learn the facts and make a list about the proposal and traffic study (TAR)

2. Discuss with your neighbors and see what they know about the development efforts off Yates Store Road.  Point them to this website as a starting point in learning the facts and timelines.

3. Become a force multiplier and educate your neighbors on upcoming meeting dates. Ask if they will consider attending a meeting with you.  Our group is in the process of designating speakers for the public hearing if you would like to contribute on that level.  We would love to see a large community audience as well–demonstrating the desire to be involved and following the public hearing process.

4. Prior to December’s public hearing (date pending,) write (in a cordial manner please) to the Cary Town Council (info below) and detail your concerns specific to the proposal and how our roadways and crosswalks will need more consideration and enhancements to safely and adequately support a school that DOES NOT provide busing.
